The Lake District with my Camera

I got to spend an enjoyable holiday in the Lake District, Cumbria, last week.

The only way I can accurately describe the Lakes, to anyone that’s never been there, is to say it’s like a massive playground.  In all weathers you can walk, run, hike, climb and take in the most refreshing air you’ve ever breathed in.    The scenery is like nothing else with rocky crags, rivers, waterfalls and of course the fells that dominate the land in all their glory.

The sun shone (mostly), during our stay.  The people are always really friendly, the sheep were bleating and the food was delicious.  Perfect.

We stayed in Patterdale, located the other end of Ulswater, part of the Eastern Lakes and a perfect base for exploring nearby towns such as Windermere, Ambleside and Keswick.

Of course it was a great opportunity to take some photo’s while we explored the Lakes on foot.

It’s actually quite tricky trying to portray the enormity and depth of the scenery we were surrounded with but I’ve given it a go!

Hope you like them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Have you been to the Lakes?  If so where is your favourite place to seek out?

    1. Oh yes I love Buttermere and in fact we went there on one of the days but it was pouring with rain and wasn’t so attractive to photograph with the low clouds and drizzle unfortunately but it’s a great lake. The passes are the best bit I think, getting up so high and then whizzing down again!

  1. Beautiful photographs. I love the Lakes, we visit quite often because my partners home town is Ulverston and his mum still lives there. We’ll be up again quite soon in fact. Coniston is one of our favourite places to visit when we go because it’s close by, but I’d love to see more of the Northern Lakes. Patterdale is lovely, we stayed there once.

  2. Funny. My parents live in Ulverston too but about to move away. They’re 84 and need to live nearer us kids. Big move and last visit was v sad for me.
So , did you make it up one of the fells then? Sounds like my recommendation, Haystacks , was too covered in cloud. Shame.
    Thanks for sharing pics. Lovely
