Time To Relax

Hello! Im writing this from a very cold but sunny part of the Lake District, called Thirlmere. Im on holiday and enjoying every moment of it. There isn’t a bad view in sight. No crowds, no noise (apart from the rush of water down the falls) and no pollution, just clean air and lots of Herdy sheep.

Mouse is having a thoroughly nice time treking along the riverbanks, along the lake shores and through the fields and towns. She appears to be taking the great outdoors in her (four paw) stride.

Being away over here always reminds of what wonderful countryside we have in this country.

Like anyone that has ever visited the lakes, you want to move here in a heartbeat but would I appreciate the grand fells and snowy scenery quite as much if I lived here?

When I visit I’m always reminded that here is where some serious hard work takes place. Tourism, farming and even the usual forms of employment like health and social care must all play out in a very different, sometimes very difficult setting.

Top 3 things I love about the Lakes:

1. The roads. They always remind me of Postman Pat (inspired by the Lakes), and so as we drive along I have to sing the theme tune.

2. The amount of outdoor space. I always want to just get out there and explore it all. Like being a kid again.

3. The food. Quality and hearty all in one go. It’s fresh and mostly local with not a burger or fried chicken in sight.

It takes time away to realise what we have and that you don’t have to travel very far to have the biggest of adventures.
